Instructions to Authors

The Saudi Journal of Disability and Rehabilitation (SJDR), published periodically, is an international
refereed scientific publication in the field of disability rehabilitation.  The Editor-in-Chief welcomes submission of manuscripts (MS)  in the fields of Prosthetics, Orthotics, Spinal Cord Injuries, and related Neurological Disorders, Sensory and Cognitive Aids, Gerontology, and related Rehabilitative  Engineering, Interventions and Programmes.

The Editorial Board will consider leading, original and review articles for publication, as well as case reports, innovative methods and procedures, book reviews, and letters to the editors.

Desiderata

Scientific merit and originality are the two most desirable qualities of any manuscript submitted.  Articles must be clearly and precisely presented.  The content of the paper should address itself to the problems outlined in the introduction.  The discussion should be relevant, in the lights of previously reported studies, and the conclusion drawn should adequately be supported by the data.

General

The contribution must be in English.  Five quality copies of the manuscript should be submitted; each with its full complement of tables and figures.  The preparation of the manuscript with respect to layouts, typing, illustrations, including title page, and references must be according to the “Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts submitted to Biomedical Journals”.  Please refer to the following articles for detail.

Abstract

The author(s) should start the manuscript with an abstract of not more than 200 words.  The Arabic abstract will be furnished by the SJDR.  Neither abbreviations nor references should be used in the abstract.  The abstract should be written in a structured format, and should address the following points:  objective(s), design, sample size and sampling, interventions, results, conclusion(s) and recommendation(s), and be followed by three to five key words.

Ethical Consent

When experiments on human subjects are being reported, a declaration as indicated in the “Uniform Requirements” must be incorporated.

Permission to Reprint

Whenever a manuscript contains material (texts, tables, figures, charts, etc.) which is protected by copyright, it is the obligation of the author to secure written permission from the holder of the copyright.

Manuscript and Copyright

The manuscript submitted for publication must be the work of the author or authors submitting it and neither it, nor any similar work, should be under consideration for publication, or have been published elsewhere by any other journal.  All authors must sign a declaration to this effect, together with written consent to publish after amendment if necessary by the Editorial Board. The manuscripts accepted for publication become the exclusive property of the SJDR, and may not be reproduced elsewhere, wholly or in part, without the consent of the Editors. Publication of an MS does not imply the Editor’s agreement with the statements or opinions expressed therein; and the authors take the responsibility for these and also for the accuracy of the references cited. Manuscripts are only accepted for publi-cation with the understanding that the authors will permit editorial amendments, though galley proofs will always be submitted to authors before being sent finally to the press.

 Offprints

Ten offprints of each article are provided free of charge.  Additional offprints may be purchased by the authors. If this is not done, then only ten (10) gratis offprints will be mailed to the authors.
